RESERVATION Should I hire the cheaper mover?
Unlicensed moving companies (usually, ones you find on craigslist or offer up) have no need to maintain license and insurance and often park their moving trucks on the public streets (leaving your items open to theft). Also, this means their cost of operation is inexpensive and customers can hire them at a very low cost. This comes with many disadvantages for the customer. This includes, no background checks into whom they may bring into your home as a helper (some may be known criminals and can return later to steal your valuable items), background checks prevent this. Another disadvantage would be, an exposure to injury claim to the property owner, (wether that be you or your building manager) God forbid something happens. Unlicensed movers do not care about their reputation or business license. In “move went wrong” cases a client would most likely never hear from them after the bill was paid, and no complaints could be filed.
