A mattress like any other items requires careful handling and proper use. To avoid deformation during the move, the mattress must be properly packed, loaded, and unloaded. Titan Relocation deals with the transportation of mattresses every day and we have collected enough experience to move them safe and sound.
What nuances should we take into account when transporting a mattress?
Mattresses come in various shapes and sizes: frame, frameless, with and without springs, as well as custom-made mattresses, of non-standard shapes and sizes. So it is very important to figure out how to transport exactly your mattress.
What are the risks of improper transportation?
- Damage or contamination of the upholstery – this will not affect the operation, but the mattress may lose its original appearance;
- Damage to the spring block is a more serious risk that can affect the further use of the mattress;
- Caking of the filler – there is a risk of losing the orthopedic properties of the mattress.
In order not to get an unpleasant experience when transporting a mattress, you must carefully approach the preparation and follow the rules listed below.
PACKAGE
Remove the mattress topper, wash and dry it, if the design allows. Before transportation, it is necessary to securely pack the mattress so as not to stain or damage it.
There are different materials for each type of mattress. But, as a rule, it is cardboard, bubble wrap and stretch. Titan Relocation also offer special mattress bags which will protect your mattress perfectly.
CARRYING BY STAIRS OR LIFTING
Springless mattresses have the ability to twist. This type of mattress is more mobile and will not cause hassle during transportation. It is worth noting that some types of spring mattresses also have the ability to curl, they are initially supplied rolled and vacuum packed. If you do not remember exactly how the new mattress was delivered, you should not take risks and roll the mattress.
It is not allowed to bend and twist round, orthopedic, spring and rigid mattresses!!!
Many people mistakenly believe that transporting oversized mattresses (massive or irregular shapes) does not require much effort, but this is not the case. Such mattresses may have a different spring structure, mixed filling, etc. Special attention should be paid to the transportation of these mattresses, otherwise, non-observance of some rules may entail adverse consequences.
If you do not follow these rules, the life of the mattress is significantly reduced, and there is also a possibility of damage to the springs, which threatens an unpleasant creak and uncomfortable sleep.
TRANSPORTATION
It is not allowed to put heavy objects on top of the mattress. A dent may appear on the surface and the mattress may not return to its original position.
It is necessary to place the mattress indoors or in the truck along the long edge in order to reduce the load and reduce the time the mattress is on the edge without support.
UNPACKING
Unpack it very carefully. If the mattress has been rolled up, you should give it, if possible, a day to restore its original shape after unpacking.
Avoiding deformation is the most important task when transporting a mattress, and Titan Relocation will be happy to help you to cope with it!
